This course is one of a pair of courses that offer students experiences in media production and media analysis. It provides a foundation for further study in media and may also serve as an endpoint of learning for those students wishing to gain basic skills and understanding to create their own media products.Students develop an understanding of the creative and collaborative processes needed to make media products through the study of journalism, advertising and short film making and screen (TV/film/online content).

This course offers students experience in media production and media analysis at the highest level of complexity available in senior secondary courses. Students are provided with practical and creative opportunities to acquire media skills, knowledge and understanding through a practical and theoretical study of media. Students develop an understanding of the creative and collaborative processes needed to make media products through the study of journalism, advertising and short film making.

This course is available in two streams: an introductory (level 2) and pre-tertiary (level 3). Structured classes contain ear-training, music element literacy and practical techniques to develop a 10-minute performance program over the course of the year. Learners have the option to move between course complexity as required. Regarded as a continuation of Year 10 music, it is perfect for those aiming to build and/or advance their musical skills with support or a stepping stone to further study such as University Connections Program: Foundation Practical Music UCP 010.  This course gains ATAR points at level 3.

Theatre Performance 3

This Year 12 course provides students with the opportunity to expand their performance skills. Working individually and as a member of a theatrical ensemble, students will present a range of polished performances, culminating in a full-length play at the end of the year. The course will have a strong focus on character development through voice, physicalisation, and script analysis. Students will also have the opportunity to view and critique live theatre performances and develop their reflective writing skills.

The University Connections Program is delivered with support from UTAS Conservatorium of Music to build upon existing knowledge and experience to develop awareness of what is required for musical expression utilising a range of music technologies, with a focus on how this operates at a professional level. Learners work through 4 modules with the options of various projects that involve creation, analysis, experimentation, and reflection on the craft and skill of a music technologist. This course gains ATAR points.

Delivered in conjunction with UTAS Conservatorium of Music, this course provides an intensive study in music performance, designed to build skills culminating in a successful audition into the Bachelor of Music Degree. Across genres and styles of commercial pop, independent, jazz, and classical music, this unit affords students the opportunity to develop technical, musical and professional skills in music performance or composition and allows them to investigate the context and methods of music practice. This course gains ATAR points.
